Fleming's Right Hand Rule

The direction of induced current in a straight conductor is given by Fleming's Right Hand Rule.

It state that, if the fore finger, middle finger and thumb of the right hand are stretched at right angles to each other, with the fore finger in the direction of the field and the thumb in the direction of the motion of the wire, then the current in the wire is in the direction of the middle finger.

A galvanometer is connected in the loop to detect current. In the figure, the magnetic field is from east to west, and the wire AB is perpendicular to this field, i.e., it lies in the south-north direction. Suppose the loop is pulled up vertically (Figure 5.15a). A current will be induced in the loop. Its direction will be from B to A.
